With my new 1998 Mustang GT leaving me stranded on the side of the road far from home last night and now parked at a mechanic , and my less than 2 year old pickup truck stationed many hours away at my parents house to assist with their remodeling projects, the Trans Am has resumed primary daily driver status for the first time since I’ve been in high school. I just pulled it out of long term storage, so here’s to hoping everything still works.

That's not one of the four-speed ones, is it?
![]() 07/18/2020 at 19:36 |
|
I swapped in a four speed last year in place of an automatic that I blew up.

Those wheels really do set the car off just right.

I would really like to go for a ride in that car. When I was like 15, that car was new and my brother and I ogled them but I never got to ride in one.

Fell off a ladder a couple years ago and had my left foot in a boot for a couple weeks. My Jag (1985 XJ6) Was my only automatic car so it assumed full DD responsibilities. And this was before I had worked on it enough to trust it was well as I do now.
I did have to fix a blown hose roadside once but it did fine otherwise.

5x120 on 5x120.65 hubs? or are the hubs different on the Trans Am?
![]() 07/18/2020 at 20:27 |
|
Yep, 5x120mm on 5x4.75in. Bolts right up, only issue was different backspacing which required the use of spacers.

I have doubts about how safe that is . Does your research say anything definite?
